FACILITATE YOUR LEARNING WITH TAILORED INSTRUCTION IN A COLLABORATIVE CLASSROOM

Students choose SIL for many reasons. Flexible, college-style schedules and the enormous variety (154 and growing!) of UC Approved A-G courses offered are only the tip of the iceberg as to why students choose SIL.

SIL Students work with career teachers who are passionate about their vocation and devout in their academic discipline. Our long-tenured instructors will challenge Students to surpass the bounds of what they think they can do, while providing guidance and mentorship along the way. We see the classroom as a collaboration between teacher and Student - allowing students to explore questions, make new connections, and demonstrate authentic understanding through synthesis.

As a WASC-accredited high school with UC-approved courses, credits taken at SIL transfer easily to a Student's high school of record or prospective college.

In the 1:1 and small group setting, Students are mentored through course material at a challenging, student-centric pace, demonstrating their mastery of the material as they go.

We build a personalized calendar for each student. Pupils generally meet 2-3 times per week per course, though that changes with the Student’s availability, goals, and deadlines. There is no minimum number of hours of instruction required to complete a course. Rather a Student finishes a course by satisfying the requirements of the curriculum, hence the  “Mastery Learning” designation. Exams happen outside of scheduled class time (except speaking portions of language exams) when the student and teacher believe the student is ready to address the material.
