After-School & Weekend Tutoring
In addition to leading for-credit courses, our high school teachers tutor students, after school and on weekends, in support of classes taken at other middle schools, high schools, and community colleges. Attend class at our Los Altos campus, or connect with our teachers online, using Skype.
Your tutorial program begins with an evaluation of your academic strengths and challenges, and we help you to set and reach measurable goals in the short and long term. We differentiate instruction to reach students who need extra attention and those who need an extra challenge, and we support each student's development of self-aware learning strategies, organizational systems, and useful habits of mind.
We encourage tutorial students to join our drop-in supportive study hall, where after school they can get extra help from SIL teachers and friends -- finish homework without having to take it home.
Tutorial students have access to our academic and college guidance programs, and can get help selecting colleges, writing admissions essays and filling out applicaitons, and preparing for the SAT and related exams. We encourage tutorial students to get involved with our student government, and help plan service-learning projects, field trips, movie nights, ski trips, and even prom.
