Standardized Test Preparation
Our teachers help students prepare, after school and on weekends, for college admissions exams such as the SAT, ACT, PSAT, SAT Subject Tests, and AP Exams.
Effective test prep hinges on the idea that discoverable issues -- recurring challenges with particular kinds of test questions --
prevent you from reaching your highest possible score. It's our job to help you uncover your most commonly made mistakes, and to guide you towards spotting and tackling each problem type.
Each test-prep program begins with a diagnostic exam, offered at no cost, along with an initial consultation with Ashley, who developed our program after several years as an SAT tutor with popular test prep companies. Our teachers use results from the diagnostic and initial consultation to customize a one-to-one prep program.
As SIL is a registered College Board and BYU test center, students may take AP, SAT (SSD), BYU, and CLEP exams at our campus. Our students find it comforting to take exams in a familiar setting, among a small number of students, and with SIL teachers as proctors.
We also help students prepare for
middle and high school entrance exams such as the ISEE and SSAT, high school equivalency tests such as the GED, CHSPE, and CAHSEE, and college placement exams, such as the ELM and EPT. Students also come to us for help in advance of BYU independent-study exams, and high school and community college midterms and finals.
Test-prep students have access to our academic and college counseling programs, and can get help finding and applying to colleges. We encorage prep students to join our supportive study hall, where they can work with SIL teachers and other students as they hone their testing strategies.
