Our Community
Our students are as diverse as our staff, and our variety keeps things interesting. Ours is a casual atmosphere, and we like fun. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we do share a common respect for diligence and responsibility. Our students and teachers work hard and play hard.
To lend balance to the one-to-one nature of the SIL classroom, we provide numerous opportunities for students and teachers to socialize. We enjoy a collective lunch break at noon, and frequent the coffee shops and restaurants that surround our open campus. A regular noontime Friday BBQ--vegetarians accommodated--is free to students, teachers, and parents. At our campus, we host movie nights, ice cream socials, art shows, science demonstrations, and LAN parties. Off campus, our field-trip program allows our students and teachers to explore the Bay Area.
Our student council meets every Tuesday at noon, and participates in community-outreach initiatives throughout the year. We foster student-initiated clubs and organizations, and encourage each student to contribute their unique goals, experiences, and perspectives.
