Our Community
SIL students are scientists, athletes, musicians, artists, writers, reformers, and entrepreneurs, and we encourage our students to design original projects that contribute to the community, while offering a head start preparing for college, work, and life. Students work together in small-group classes, shared science labs and writing workshops, during study hall in between one-to-one lessons, and on field trips.
Outside of class, students get together every Tuesday over pizza to plan service-learning projects, food drives, movie nights, ski trips, and even prom. On Fridays students and teachers share a BBQ lunch, vegetarians welcome: the social anchor of the week, and a reward for the week's successes.
Each June we gather at the Historic Adobe Hall in Mountain View to celebrate the graduation
of our seniors. This tradition follows our prom, a party for students in all grades, open to full-time and dual-enrollment students alike.
