Graduation Requirements
To graduate with a high school diploma from SIL, students complete the following coursework:*
- History & Social Science :: 6 semesters, including 2 semesters of World History, 2 semesters of US History, 1 semester of Government, and 1 semester of Economics
- English :: 8 semesters
- Mathematics :: 4 semesters, including 2 semesters of Algebra 1
- Laboratory Science :: 4 semesters, including 2 semesters each of Biology and Chemistry OR Physics
- Language Other Than English :: 2 semesters OR 2 sequential semesters of a visual-and-performing-arts course
- Visual & Performing Arts :: 2 semesters OR 2 semesters of a language-other-than-English course
- Physical Education :: 4 semesters
- Electives :: 14 semesters
*210 credits to graduate, where 5 credits = 1 semester and 10 credits = 2 semesters
UC & CSU Admissions Requirements
To enter the University of California as a freshman, students must earn a C or better in a minimum of 15 college-prep high school courses, approved by UC Doorways, with at least 11 finished prior to the start of senior year:
- History & Social Science :: 4 semesters, including 2 semesters of World History, 2 semesters of US History, and 1 semester of Government OR Economics
- English :: 8 semesters
- Mathematics :: 6 semesters (8 semesters recommended), including 2 semesters each of Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2
- Laboratory Science :: 4 semesters (6 semesters recommended), including 2 semesters each of Biology and Chemistry OR Physics
- Language Other Than English :: 4 semesters (6 semesters recommended) of the same language, equivalent to the first and second years of a language
- Visual & Performing Arts :: 2 sequential semesters; that is, two semesters of a single year-long course
- Electives :: 2 semesters
