SIL and its partners have launched two for-credit blended-learning courses: MySocialJustice.org and BigHistoryProject.com. Both are a mixture of online study, classroom collaboration, and field-based inquiry.
We're offering partial and full scholarships for the summer of 2013 and the 2013-2014 school year; applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all spots are reserved. To learn more about blended-learning at SIL, contact Richard at 650.941.4350 or email@example.com.
My Social Justice
Students in My Social Justice learn what others have done to establish social justice, and what movements are going on in the world today. Then we give students the chance to join in. As they explore principles like equality and human rights, students read essays and stories, talk to people, listen to podcasts, and watch clips of leading, revolutionary voices in the discussion about social justice. Then students work with classmates, teachers, and community mentors to design a project that turns discussion into action.

The Big History Project
Imagine exploring 13.7 billion years of history -- from the Big Bang to modernity. Big History tells the complete story, with a goal of revealing common themes and patterns that help students better understand people, civilizations, and our place in the universe.
The Big History Project is a collaboration designed to bring Big History to life for high school students. It is entering the second year of a pilot program designed to create and refine a world-class curriculum and online experience that will ultimately be freely available to schools worldwide. More than 80 partner schools are enrolled in the current pilot program; SIL is fortunate to be one of 11 California pilot schools.
